History

This Fall, the WSU Women's Ice Hockey Team is embarking on its 11th season. We are very proud of being the first women’s college team in the Northwest. Since our inception, teams have formed at the University of Idaho and the University of Montana.
The organization historically has strived to establish positive and lasting relationships both with other collegiate teams as well as local womens recreational teams. In the past, we have played teams from as far away as Denver, Colorado and as close to home as the Moscow Adult League. In addition to playing in tournaments versus city teams, we also host an annual collegiate womens ice hockey tournament, which has been held in Boise, ID and McCall, ID.
Our goals are not limited to gamplay. Over the years, we have sought to increase public interest in ice hockey and womens sports in general. Annual fundraisers at WSU events such as Dad's Weekend and Mom's Weekend consistantly generate positive interest in our club team and our sport, and our annual participation in Cougar Women in Sports event seeks to engender a love for hockey in a new generation.
